AudiCable Strictly Complies with the US Copyright Regulations

The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17) regulates crucial aspects as to the recording of audio content. Please note that the regulations in this article are confined to the US and that any information presented here is given without any warranty.

1. The US Copyright Law Allows Digital Music Recording

Chapter 10: Digital Audio Recording Devices and Media

1008. Prohibition on certain infringement actions

No action may be brought under this title alleging infringement of copyright based on the manufacture, importation, or distribution of a digital audio recording device, a digital audio recording medium, an analog recording device, or an analog recording medium, or based on the noncommercial use by a consumer of such a device or medium for making digital musical recordings or analog musical recordings.

3. AudiCable Strictly Complies With the Regulations Mentioned Above

1) AudiCable Never Circumvents DRM

Most streaming services protect their contents against "direct download" by adopting “DRM technology”, which also ensures that only authorized users can listen to the music.

AudiCable respects the rule and has never tried to circumvent it. The radios, podcasts, and music streams that AudiCable is able to record are not protected by effective copy-protection measures. AudiCable just records the unencrypted audio data which is outputted to the system sound device. Also, all the songs can never be recorded with AudiCable independently without subscribing to the streaming services.

2) AudiCable Never Accesses Encrypted Music Data

Some contents are also protected by the provider against recording. This is done technically in that the music data on the computer are only processed in encrypted form and are only decrypted in the display device. AudiCable has never tried to access encrypted music data and is therefore not able to record and save such content.

3) AudiCable is an Outstanding Audio Recording Tool

However, the music contents that are not protected by the provider against recording can be recorded by AudiCable. To do this, such music have to be played back completely. A new music file is then created from the unencrypted music played (so-called "audio recording") without any protection being circumvented.

It is also possible to record exactly the same content with any audio recorder, even though AudiCable is a bit more convenient. The fact that the recording of music streaming content, which has not been provided with recording protection by the provider, does not circumvent effective protection, can also be seen from the fact that this is even possible with "on-board means".

4. Provider’s terms and conditions

When subscribing to commercial music streaming services, you may have agreed to terms and conditions, which restrict your rights to record music. Please make sure you carefully check such terms and conditions before using AudiCable to record such media. AudiCable shall not be liable if you violate such regulations which you have agreed to.
